Today I present MYOB BusinessBasics Online to Accountants in Wellington, as part of our Right Here, Right Now series throughout New Zealand. So far we have presented to around 150 accountants in Tauranga, Hamilton and Auckland, and have had a very exciting response, with many people wanting to know more.
A common question raised is when BusinessBasics Online will be available. Right now, we are working with a number of Accountants as we work through our timing for release. The service will definitely be available in 2008, and I'll expand on progress over the next few months.

Right Here, Right Now
Today I set off on a week long roadshow around New Zealand, as part of the Right Here, Right Now seminars, where we showcase some of the exciting and innovative new products available for Accounting Practices from MYOB. This is one of many events where we keep our clients informed and educated, and I really enjoy the opportunity to catch up with many of the people I've come to know over the years I have spent in this industry.
This is the first opportunity for me to introduce MYOB BusinessBasics Online to our wider network of Accountants. Given the response we’ve already had from our trial group, we’re expecting a lot of interest. In particular, I'm keen to show Accountants how MYOB BusinessBasics Online will make it even easier to work with their clients, improving the accuracy and timeliness of the financial data, and reducing some of the issues businesses have meeting their GST commitments.
Also, I'm sure that many Accountants will have lots of questions, so I'll begin to introduce answers to these through this blog, so stay tuned!

Going Online with MYOB
I've been a part of our online team for many years now, starting back in 2002 as part of the MYOB development group, where I helped build MYOB WebConnect, a web site and extranet for Accounting Practices in New Zealand.
At that time, we were working on our first Online Accounting application. We quickly determined that the time wasn't quite right for our NZ clients, so held off on progressing for a couple of years. Significantly, NZ didn't have reasonable high speed (broadband) internet access, and there was still a lack of trust in Internet based applications.
But we've kept a watchful eye on how this has changed, particularly through our strong relationships with NZ banks, who have kept us alert to the dramatic increase in use of Internet Banking over the last twelve months.
So now the time seems right for us to present MYOB BusinessBasics Online. For us within MYOB it's been an exciting project, and we're even more excited that so many businesses and Accountants in New Zealand will be able to benefit from this in 2008 and onwards.
